| The Empire Marque Event, organized by Gordon Gold, attracted a large group of BSCC members as well as a number of guests from the Mercedes club. In all, 25 cars made the trip - 15 of them British. We left the square in Collierville and proceeded east on Hwy 57 thru the towns of Moscow, LaGrange, Middleton, Ramer, Michie, and after approx. 85 miles we arrived at Pickwick Dam. We had lunch at the Historic Bellis Botel, an old river barge that has been converted to a catfish restaurant. After lunch we proceeded to the Shiloh National Battlefield to observe the Living History Demonstration, including a demonstration of Civil War medical procedures, period music by the 52nd Tennessee Regimental String Band CSA, and a combined demonstration of arms (artillery, cavalry, and infantry). At the conclusion of the demonstration part of the group headed back to Memphis via Corinth MS and Highway 72, while others drove to Selmer TN to take Highway 64 for the return trip. Despite the prediction of thunderstorms, it turned out to be a beautiful day for a drive through the countryside - especially for those with roadsters!
