March 29, 2003 - Cookout in the Country |
|
Jim & Judy Ostner were our gracious host and hostess for the Jaguar Marque event - a "Cookout in the Country" at their "Rolling J" ranch in Sardis, Mississippi. Five British cars drove down together (Walt Fisher, MIller Hadskey, Robin Balton, Jim & Bunny Hofer & Joe Reed), while two (Jenny Pangle and Peter & Maggie Moran) met us at the Ostner's ranch - along with a handful of BSCC members utilizing less interesting modes of transportation. Upon arrival, everyone was astounded by the Ostner's home. We had been expecting a "weekend cabin" kind of place - not a spectacular home worthy of "Architect's Digest"! |
OK, who let that minivan break in line?... |
We're not lost - and we're not asking anyone for directions!... |
No, we're not THAT close together - the camera just makes it look that way... |
Our only pit stop on the way brought out several curious onlookers... |
Here's the view as you approach the Ostner's lovely old home... |
...and this is the view as you get closer... |
From the rear courtyard (Jim's cooking in the screened porch)... |
The guest house at the end of the courtyard... |
The former servant's quarters... |
Not all of the Ostner's horsepower comes from Jaguar... |
The "Mulch Ride" - using bags of mulch instead of hay... |
Plenty of torque + skinny tires + wet ground = stuck Jag... |
